1. São Paulo Metro Line 6–Orang

The Sao Paulo Metro Line 6- Orange is a major rail infrastructure project that will change the outlook of the city of São Paulo, Brasil. It is the largest PPP being developed in the whole of Latin America and the largest in the construction company Acciona’s history. The  metro line that will connect the neighborhoods of Brasilândia and Freguesia de Ó to the city center. The company will not only build the project; it has also been tasked with operating the rail line for 19 years. It will create 9000 jobs and serve over 600, 000 passengers per day. 

The project has 2 sections, with one headed towards the central region and another towards the northern region. The first part of the line is scheduled to be completed in 2026, while the final leg will be done in 2027.  

The trains that will run of the line will have an orange color, to go in line with the name of the line’s name. They have been designed by global leader in smart  and sustainable train design, Alstom in partnership with Linha Universidade (LinhaUni). The trains used on the lines to be light-weight, consume less electricity that most trains in Brazil and offer a better experience for passengers.  

When completed, the project will be 15.3 kilometers long and will have 15 underground stations, including three major interchanges. The line will significantly reduce travel time.  the typical bus trip connecting the two neighborhoods is 90 minutes- because of the train line, the trip will now only last 23 minutes. Also, it will be referred to as the university line, because it will connect several universities and schools in the area. This will not only improve the travel experience for students in the region and offer more educational opportunities for people in the area. 

Putting into practice sustainable design, the project will use biofuels and recycled materials.
