The New Bridgewater Bridge, a 1-kilometer, four-lane road bridge in Tasmania has already been completed on time and within budget after 2 decades of development and 3 years of construction. The $786 million project, the largest infrastructure in the history of the Australian state, replaces the aging Bridgewater Bridge, which was opened in 1946.

With 4 lanes, travel will be faster and more efficient for commuters, which include pedestrians, automobiles and cyclists. It has a 3-metre-wide shared path. It will reduce the bottleneck issue that plagued the area for years. Not only that, but it also improves access for marine traffic. It provides a more efficient route across the river Derwent.

Then there is the benefit it brings with more jobs for those in the region. It created over 1000 jobs, with roughly 25 of the workers being local to the area, which included apprentices, trainees and civil engineers. This not only has been shown to improve economic activity in the region but will continue to do as it improves connectivity in the region.
